China sweeps the weightlifting world with multiple records

PATTAYA, Thailand - China won all six gold medals in the men's 81kg and women's 64kg categories with new world records at the 2019 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships on Sunday.
In the men's 81kg category, Chinese athletes Liu Xiaojun and Li Dayin won all gold and silver medals and became the champions of the competition. In the snatch, although Lyu failed in his first attempt, he successfully lifted two strong lifts and won the gold medal with 171 kg. His teammate Li finished second at the same weight on his third attempt after Liu. Armenia's Andranik Karapetyan won the bronze medal in his first attempt with an impressive lift of 168kg.

Liu maintained his advantage in the clean and jerk when the athlete set a new world record of 207kg in his third attempt. Li won the silver medal with one kilogram less than Lyu, while Bulgaria's Yunder Nedim Beytula won the bronze medal with 201 kilograms.
With an astonishing advantage, Liu Yong won the gold medal in the men's 81kg category with 378kg, and Li won the silver medal with 377kg, both breaking Mr. Li's previous world record of 375kg. The referees modified the residence of the bronze medal, bringing it to Colombia's Brayan Santiago Rodallegas Carvajal with a total weight of 363 kilograms.

In the women's 64kg category, China's Deng Wei won all three gold medals with three new world records. She successfully snatched all three great lifts and won the gold medal with 116kg, setting her own world record of 1kg. Rim Un Sim of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea took silver in the 114kg lift, while Romania's Loredana-Elena Toma landed a good lift of 112kg in her second attempt.
Deng continued to extend her lead in the clean and jerk with three good lifts. Her weightlifting reached 145 kilograms, breaking her own world of 142 kilograms. Rim claimed bronze in the 137kg category, while Colombia's Mercedes Tigrero claimed bronze in the 132kg category.
Deng's score of 261kg was 4kg higher than her own world record. Reem won the silver medal with 251kg and the bronze medal went to Toma with 240kg.
The 10-day championship will last until September 27 and will also serve as a qualifier for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
